So its been announced that development has begun on a remake of the classic film Seven Samurai by the famous Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. It will be made by a western director, released in 2014 and set in Northern Thailand.
I have only one thing to say to this - They've got to be kinding. I can not believe that they (whoever they are) would seriously consider stomping on the memory of such a great master of the film world by remaking, whats probably the greatest film ever made. Its bad enough they remade it already into a cowboy flick (ok it was good) but even so they can't seriously think to remake it again.
Although it hasn't even been made, i have no hopes for it. All i can say is that if Hollywood wants to base its future on remakes and sequels thats fine, but for god sake, don't tarnish the memory of the great Kurosawa in the process.
