Game of Death (Robert Clouse/Sammo Hung Kam-bo/Bruce Lee, 1972/79)

Billy Lo (Bruce Lee/Tai Chung Kim/Biao Yuen) and his singer girlfriend (Colleen Camp) are flourishing celebrities in China, She a singer, he a martial arts movie star. When the leader of an evil syndicate that lives to exploit entertainers, Dr. Land (Dean Jagger) starts threatening them to join his empire or die, Billy's martial arts mastery is put to the test as he tries to fight back against the syndicate and their goon squad of biker boys and martial arts champions.
This film is Bruce Lee's last ever screen performance - he died part way during the making of it, and the result was that the directors had the end footage of a film and nothing to lead to it. But rather than despair they called in some look-a-likes for the part and copied over a lot of footage from many of Lee's other works. The result however can not be measured by our standards - audiences today are used to seeing films made neatly and cleanly edited, but in the 1970's they did the best they can. So if you remember that fact, then the film becomes a genuinely enjoyable experience.
The acting is very well done, especially from the stand ins for Lee. The story is a great gritty revenge flick that will keep anyone glued to the screen. And of course the martial arts smack down courtesy of Lee and a host of other experts is only the cherry on top.
And for all those Bruce Lee fans out there, especially the ones who have seen the iconic character - Yes, this is the film with the yellow jumpsuit.
