In the sordid world of Basin City, all hell can break loose at the drop of a hat, or the twitch of a trigger finger. Within this world, three people are on the loose in their own stories. Disgraced and retired police officer Hartigan (Bruce Willis) searching for the one girl who still has faith in him. Violent psychopath Marv (Mickey Rourke) seeking revenge for a crime he didn't commit. And savage wanderer Dwight (Clive Owen) trying to keep the girls of old town from starting a turf war. Between gunslinging prostitutes, corrupt politicians and a host of other dangerous killers, It is anyones guess whether Sin city will survive their stories.
Action Packed doesn't begin to describe this film. Every second is stuffed with savage gun fire, blood splattering knife fights and the mess left by numerous punch ups and tortures. But by no means does that make this another mindless blood fest for the simple minded. The creators have used aesthetics and comic book art works to such an extent that 300 could never stack up to. The story, despite being slightly long winded, has all the feel of a Bogart murder mystery and more. The all star cast (packed with a host of hollywood hotties and heavy hitters) give a tremendous performance from whatever role they fill: even a brief cameo from Josh Hartnett had one glued to the screen. All in All, Sin City is a must see for any fans of something out of the ordinary and down right gritty. This from the man who brought us the Spy Kids fiascos.
