Your Highness (David Gordon Green, 2011)

When the bride of Prince Fabious (James Franco) is taken prisoner by an evil sorcerer, he must journey to rescue her before she is used to give birth to a dragon. The only person who can help him, is his brother Prince Thadeous (Danny McBride) a lazy selfish man who is jealous of his brothers fame and constantly surrounds himself in debauchery. Can these two brothers work together in time to help save their kingdom, or will the Sorcerer Leezar (Justin Theroux) be able to have his way with the virgin bride?
It is often difficult for films that area mixture of action and comedy to achieve either aim: they will either be more exciting than funny, or too silly to be taken seriously. In the case of Your Highness the effect was not achieved simply because it was terrible. Never mind the dialogue, that is meant to be cheesy and over the top, but when most of the humour that they try to use revolves entirely around sex and pornographic jokes. This is a very swing and miss situation - maybe only 1 out of 10 of these jokes were actually funny. Meanwhile the acting is terrible, even from those famous faces in the cast (including Natalie Portman, Damian Lewis and Toby Jones), the result being that the whole performance is let down.
Moving on to the film itself. The editing is shoddy at best, being unable to live up to the surprisingly decent cinematography. The detail of the fantasy world seems to have been given a lot of thought, and if it was taken seriously it might be a good scenario for a fantasy story. The story itself is pretty generic, but that's ok because it doesn't need to be overly complicated for Your Highness, once again another aspect that, when taken seriously, would be very entertaining.
To answer these questions three: the name is Your Highness, its quest is to fail as both a fantasy and a comedy film and its favourite colour....who cares, its not worth the hour and a half to find out.
