Wrath of the Titans (Jonathan Liebesman, 2012)

Several years after the end of Clash of the titans, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is trying to live life as a normal man alongside his son. But when Zeus (Liam Neeson) is betrayed by Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and his son Ares (Edgar Ramirez) and imprisoned in the underworld, Perseus, along side old and new friends, must once again take up his sword and go to free his father before the traitorous gods can use his power to revive an ancient evil.
I wasn't expecting much from this sequel to a rubbish remake, and the most I can say is that it is at least better than its predecessor. The makers seemed to have learned from their mistakes and corrected the problems they made with the first film. The cinematography is no longer jumpy and confusing (except for one scene but that should make sense there) and is easier to watch and follow, and the editing is neater, avoiding the pot holes of Clash of the Titans. And the story isn't awful, just mind numbingly simple. It does nothing fancy and is as subtle as a brick. The cast is once again full of famous faces, and for the most part they give great performances. But others on screen are just as bad as before, no improvement there. And once again the CGI monsters and special effects have been done too much and all for 3D (yes this was a film meant for 3D, so what do you expect). And to cap it all the action scenes are far to brief to be called exciting.
Wrath may be able to say it is better than Clash, and even then, it still is not a great movie. Fun background noise, but nothing special.
