New from the summer of repeats and sequels, is a remake of the classic Conan the Barbarian. Arnold Schwarzenegger's original film was an epic story, filled with excitement, drama, quality acting and basically everything that makes a film good.
The 2011 remake is 90 minutes of excessive violence and 20 minutes of lousy jokes, the same story line we've seen before and a raunchy sex scene. Although this sounds like enough to make a good man's film, it REALLY isn't. Even the action scenes, after the first 30 minutes just got dull and almost repetitive. The acting was kack as were the jokes.
One of the interesting things about the original trilogy (yes there were 3 films) was that the concept of Conan spanned over his whole life time and the 2nd film (Conan the Destroyer) was linked to the overall story but the narrative was set into the middle so it could have a unique story, within a bigger one. If this new film wanted to be any good, it should have done something similar, but instead they went and tried to re-write the original.
They didn't even get Schwazenegger in it for crying out loud.
