Transformers (2007-2011, Michael Bay)

Now everybody at some point in their lives has seen or heard of The Transformers. Its probably the most universally popular story of all time; the war between Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots, against the Evil Decepticons lead by Megatron. So when i first heard they were making a live action film of the transformers back in 2007, i broke down and thanked every god i could think of.
In the 1st Transformers (2007), we had Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) discovering the world of the Transformers and helping Optimus prime defeat Megatron and save the world. The story alone is immense, but the best thing about this film was the first time ever seeing a real life transformer (not optimus, but a decepticon) But that didn't matter because it answered the question every child who played with the toys has asked at some point; 'What would a real transformer be like?' But more than that, the best thing was watching Optimus Prime come to life, on the big screen and in reality, and then proceed to rip the Decepticons to pieces.
As you could imagine then, the sequel created just as much of a buzz. This time around we had all the things that the 1st filmed lacked (allow me to explain before you boo me). In the first film we had lots of time to watch the transformers transform, but the only down side was that the camera never showed the fights clearly, but rather we had to keep up from behind buildings and in crowds with quick glances. Ok it was a great way to film it, but lets be honest; we want to see the robot violence, and thats what we get with Transformers; Revenge of the Fallen (2009). In fact we not only get a deeper look into the mythology of the transformers world, but we get to see Optimus Prime annihilating the Decepticons in clear view of the flying metal, bursts of beam light and the battling bots. This sequel also made good the only bad side of the original G1 series; the death of Optimus Prime. It was one of the sadest/most awesome death scenes in film history.
Now for those who haven't seen it yet, i won't give away any more details, but the is a second sequel so don;t expect him to be dead for long. Transformers; Dark of the moon takes yet another step into the world of transformers and makes a vivid point about the relationship between them and the humans; namely that the humans are caught in the middle and they have to choose a side. Thus came about the third transformers film, in 'stunning' 3D. Not only do we get to delve into their world one more time, but this is probably the only film EVER to run for 2 and a half hours, have 1 hour of story and a 90 minute battle sequence. I don;t want to give away too many details, but lets just say, theres a reason why Optimus is the Best of the Best.
I'm not gonna say this is the most important film trilogy of all time, its certainly no Shawshank Redemption. But lets face it, people aren't going to watch this film for a challenging story or a satire of social issues blah blah blah. People Go and see this film for robots beating eight kinds of pain into each other. So don't watch this film if you're one of those snobby avant-garde film critics, go and watch this film because its brilliant for what it is; pure Transformers Bayhem.
Now one valid point i want to make about Transformers is that, from about film 2 onwards, many people get confused about who is who. They can't tell the difference between the Autobots and the Decepticons, partly because they aren't as devoted to the story as i was when i was young, but i'll grant that the battle scenes can get confusing. For all those people there is a simple way of telling who the good guys and bad guys are; Shooting at human = bad guys, shooting away from human = good guys.
