Based on the popular computer game, the just as popular Japanese anime Sengoku Basara concludes its exciting version of the Warring States era. Taking place not long after the end of season 2, the film tells a slightly different perspective of the events leading up to the battle of Sekigahara. Caught in the middle once again are Sanada Yukimura (Souichirou Hoshi) and Date Masamune (Kazuya Nakai) as they try to settle their two series old score.
To anyone who watched the first two television series, or if you just want to watch animated samurai beating the crap out of each other, then this is the film for you. True, if you want to pay any attention the historical inaccuracies, you will spend the whole time feeling annoyed and distracted: this show was based on a playstation game, so you shouldn't be expecting too much. The film brings together an all star cast of the anime world, and the climactic, earth shattering battle is guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen. The animation style unique to Sengoku Basara is upheld once again and with gusto. Even the random moments of Engrish (english spoken with a japanese accent) from Masamune do well to break the tension. If you like sword slinging, powerhouse moving, super powered samurai going toe to toe for 2 hours then this is a film for you.
